The DGT has planned 7,830,000 road trips during the long weekend, which represents an increase of 17.13% compared to 2022 and 10.04% compared to 2017, the last year in which these festivities coincided with a Wednesday and a Friday as happens on this occasion.

The traffic regulation, planning and surveillance measures began at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 5, and will continue until midnight on Sunday, the 10th.

Some 112,000 vehicles had already returned from the Constitution Bridge between 12:00 and 17:00 this Sunday, 48% of the 250,000 that are expected to return to the Barcelona area until midnight, as reported by the Servei Català de Trànsit ( SCT).

The return operation, which ends next midnight, was brought forward to yesterday, when numerous drivers already chose to return due to the forecast that greater delays would be recorded today.

In statements to Betevé, the director of the SCT, Ramon Lamiel, explained that the return operation is expected to become especially complicated after 6:00 p.m. and has asked drivers to avoid peak hours to begin their trips.

The roads with the largest delays in the middle of the afternoon are the C-14 between Organyà and Ribera d'Urgellet (Lleida); the C-14 between Ponts and Oliola, also in Lleida; the C-16 between Bagà and Cercs, in Barcelona; the N-145 in Valls de Valira, Lleida; the C-55 between Castellgalí and Manresa, in Barcelona; the AP-7 in La Roca, Montornès and Castellví de la Marca, in Barcelona, ​​and the C-17 between Malla and Vic, also in Barcelona.
