Cornellà says "enough" to gender violence

I share in Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia this series of photographs of the massive demonstration against gender violence in the Plaza de Catalunya in Cornellà de Llobregat. Not one more victim!

Thousands of people gathered this Sunday in Cornellà de Llobregat to observe a long minute of silence for the latest victim of gender violence in Catalonia.

A 34-year-old man was arrested by the Mossos as the alleged perpetrator of the murder with a knife of his 39-year-old partner, when there was a young girl at the home, who witnessed the crime, the fifth sexist in Catalonia this year.

The Cornellà City Council called a rally in Plaza Catalunya, where there was a stage set up because they were Corpus festivities in the town, as can be seen in the images.

However, before this murder, the consistory suspended the festivities and decreed three days of official mourning. Some 6,000 people attended the rally, according to the Cornellà Urban Police, and in the midst of silence the Cornellà human towers raised a pillar as a sign of mourning for the victim. On the stage there was a large sign in the background with the motto "Cornellà, against male violence".
