This Thursday, Compromís registered a proposal for a Universal and Inclusive Accessibility Law in Les Corts, a regulation that has its origin in the bill prepared by the Consell del Botànic and which completed all the internal processing, with the mandatory legal reports and the citizen participation process. However, the electoral call made it impossible for it to complete its parliamentary processing, as explained by the coalition in a statement.
Along these lines, they highlight that the Accessibility Law was promoted by the Vice Presidency and Department of Equality and Inclusive Policies of the Botànic Government, led by Mónica Oltra, and would be "the first autonomous law that regulates and guarantees the rights and compliance with the conditions and requirements of universal and full accessibility for all people".
The announcement of the registry occurs just a week and two days after the judge decided to archive the case against Mónica Oltra and her team after finding no crime. The order ensures that "there is not a single indication that any order or instruction was issued from the management positions of the Ministry aimed at hiding the facts or discrediting the minor."
Coinciding with the file and after Compromís has publicly reiterated that Oltra has the doors of the coalition open (they defend that they were never closed), the parliamentary group tries to rescue and promote this norm.
The spokesperson for the parliamentary group, Joan Baldoví, has pointed out that "brave proposals are needed in the face of the Mazón Government's dramatic blockade of the regulatory push regarding inclusion." He defends that, with this regulation, "an alternative agenda of laws is initiated in the Valencian parliament that ensures real rights for people in the face of the retrograde proposals that PP and Vox have recently presented in different areas: while Mazón's legislative agenda begins to cut rights, ours focuses on recognizing and guaranteeing them.
For his part, deputy Francesc Roig has highlighted that they want “this law to be the voice of the Valencian entities that represent people with disabilities. To create it, he had contributions and it is imperative that Las Corts approve it.”
The representatives of Compromís have highlighted that “this law not only refers to the accessibility of buildings and spaces, it contemplates an entire article that takes into account cognitive accessibility and different aspects related to accessibility in work occupation, as well as the provision of training plans for the care of people with functional diversity in different areas.”
The bill, which has 104 articles, also provides for aspects such as accessibility in newly built buildings and existing buildings, with the expansion of the reserve of housing for people with functional diversity and the possibility of making adaptations. necessary; as well as the creation of the Valencian Council for the Promotion and Guarantee of Universal Accessibility, to guarantee citizen participation.
