Compromís and Sumar believe that Oltra can be key in the space to the left of the PSOE

The file of the case against Mónica Oltra has opened many hypotheses about the role that the former Valencian vice president can play to benefit the political space to the left of the PSOE, not only in the Valencian Community but throughout Spain. In anticipation of the decisions she wants to make regarding her future, both leaders of Compromís and the plurinational space of Sumar acknowledged yesterday to this newspaper that Oltra's "political capital" is "unquestionable"; and that its contribution can be fundamental on many levels. Both her assuming a spokesperson in the Valencian coalition, as well as "contributing" to the European campaign to the plurinational group led by Yolanda Díaz and even, although not in the short term, helping to unblock a bridge with Podemos.

Àgueda Micó, deputy in the Compromís Congress, and the ombudsman Joan Baldoví already announced on Tuesday that Mónica Oltra could assume any role she wanted in the Valencian coalition. From Més Compromís, the main force of the coalition, several leaders recognized yesterday that, in the short term, her return as its spokesperson could be a powerful message for a militancy that with her resignation was left orphaned of a strong leadership. And they consider that he would be an excellent striker against the policies of the PP and Vox in the Generalitat Valenciana chaired by Carlos Mazón. They warned, however, that Oltra "does not have organic power in Compromís" but does have "the capacity to convey to public opinion our alternative policies to those of the right and the extreme right."

From PV Initiative, Oltra's party integrated into Compromís, it was added that his return would help clarify the political strategy of the coalition at a time of crossing the desert after the defeat of 28-M; and they remembered that in the years prior to the political change of 2015 she was the leader of the opposition to the PP policies. As in Més Compromís, in PV Initiative they believe that his return would be a "great stimulus" to mobilize a political space that is having a hard time finding a way to oppose the policies of the Valencian right. But both Més and PV Initiative also observed that Oltra can play a key role in national politics by favoring the recovery of complicities in the space to the left of the PSOE.

One of the hypotheses that circulated yesterday was that it could be integrated into Sumar's European list, a possibility that was not supported by many of the Compromís sources. However, it is considered that her return to politics could help the European campaign by virtue of her "impressive political and human capital", as highlighted by sources from the space led by Yolanda Díaz buoyant with the archive of the cause that puts end to a "brutal injustice".

It is a harmony that goes beyond the matrix and even forces linked to the brand, such as Más Madrid, have defended it throughout this time. "Mónica García is one of those people who always has the time to write and call," Oltra herself summarized about the relationship she maintains with the Minister of Health and leader of Más Madrid.

These great adhesions that the former vice president of the Valencian Generalitat arouses on the left of the PSOE are such that there are even those who slip that, having remained outside the political front line during the crisis that exploded in autumn, she could even act as a "bridge" to rehabilitate the dialogue between leaders of Sumar and Podemos given their good relationship with both parties, especially with Irene Montero and Ione Belarra. It would not be an easy undertaking, given the great distance that currently separates both spaces, but at least it would have the possibility of opening a communication channel that, with the current interlocutors, is "totally ruled out" by both.

At the moment, Mónica Oltra has not made any decision public. But people who do maintain contact with her believe that sooner or later she will return to political activity, even if it is in a personal capacity and away from any party structure. "She is a political animal, she has dedicated her entire life to politics and the time will come when she will return," said one of her best friends.
