Colau responds to Collboni and says that “he has no desire” to agree on the budgets with the commons

After knowing the results of yesterday's call of the BComú bases that decided to reject the municipal budgets of Mayor Jaume Collboni if they do not enter the government before Friday, when the plenary session is held to vote on the accounts, the leader of the commons in At the Barcelona City Council, Ada Colau, today justified this decision.

In an interview with the Ser network, the former mayor assured that they have raised “exactly the same thing” as the Junts leader and former mayor Xavier Trias, that they cannot give a “blank check” by voting on budgets that “have not been negotiated with me.” when you are saying that you want to do things that dismantle our city model”, using as an example the superblock or the reservation of 30% of new apartments for protected housing.

Colau has gone further and stated that Collboni has not had the will to reach an agreement with them, he has accused him of lying and that "almost a month has passed and he has not called me." “For there to be negotiations and agreements, there has to be a minimum of respect and desire for an agreement. Collboni does not want to make a pact,” he added.

Despite the differences and accusations, the leader of BComú maintains “her hand extended” for a government agreement both before the plenary session on March 22 and after. Colau says that now the “ball is in Collboni's court” and reaffirms that she is willing to “talk, negotiate and forge agreements” as long as some “minimums” of the electoral program are met.

The reactions to Colau have not been long in coming. The Deputy Mayor of Economy, Jordi Valls, has reproached the leader of BComú that her refusal to the budgets is because “her only argument is entry into the government”, in addition to making her ugly that she has dedicated herself to “looking for more excuses than points.” OK". Valls has said that the budgets include 90% of some requests made by the commons, who have not presented allegations, unlike other political formations, such as Junts, with a total of 370, and the PP, another 90.

He also commented that there have been various meetings and conversations between Mayor Collboni and Colau. “It is not credible to constantly preach that they want left-wing governments when one destroys two left-wing government budgets and says that through an assembly perhaps a third will be destroyed,” said Valls.

Despite the reproaches, the socialist councilor asks the commons for responsibility and maintains that there is still time before Friday to “come to an agreement.”

For her part, the leader of ERC in Barcelona City Council, Elisenda Alamany, has once again criticized Colau's contrary position to the accounts agreed by socialists and republicans. In statements to the media, Alamany has defended that the budget that will be voted on on March 22 is “good and left-wing” so she does not understand that “they wanted to change everything, today they blocked everything.”

So if there is no last-minute script change, if the municipal budgets are not passed in this Friday's plenary session, Collboni would have to submit to a question of confidence in order to approve the accounts.
