Cervera case: a telltale bite

Marina Ruíz García was found dead on the train tracks in 1999 in the Lleida town of Cervera. In the autopsy, in addition to some infamous internal injuries caused by the introduction of an iron bar, it was discovered that she had a deep bite on one of her breasts.

Having exhausted other avenues of investigation, the Mossos searched for who could relate the marks on the chest to the mouth of a suspect. That was when the investigators wanted Serafín Cervilla Valle, the victim's boyfriend - on the list of possible perpetrators of Marina's death - to allow themselves to take a mold of his particular mouth and he agreed without problems.

The forensic experts concluded that the author of the bite was Cervilla. And not only that. The experts also said that it had occurred immediately before or after the death of the young woman. It was the fingerprint that gave away the author.
