The Spanish Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences has announced the Goya de Honor 2023, which in this edition will go to the director Carlos Saura.
The president of the Film Academy, Fernando Méndez-Leite, has communicated the name of Saura, who will receive the institution's honorary award on February 11 in Seville. In the previous edition he fell on the actor José Sacristán.
This event is part of the celebration of Spanish Cinema Day, a day on which the Academy also holds the first meeting of its Foundation's Board of Honor.
It is a joint body made up of the director Alejandro Amenábar; actor Antonio Banderas; producer and distributor Enrique Cerezo; Iranian filmmaker Asghar Farhadi; historian Carmen Iglesias; the conductor Inma Shara; the filmmakers Pere Portabella, Josefina Molina and Cecilia Bartolomé; director of photography Vittorio Storaro; the writer Mario Vargas Llosa, Nobel Prize for Literature; the actress and singer Ana Belén; the journalist and writer Maruja Torres; and the actress Mercedes Sampietro.
