Brushstrokes of light and colors of nowhere

* The authors are part of the community of La Vanguardia readers

This December, in the gardens of the Pedralbes monastery in Barcelona, the nadala petite (Narcissus dubius) blooms, portrayed for La Vanguardia's Readers' Photos with a personal touch of colored reflections from the monastery's stained glass windows.

They are energetic colors, mixed, intertwined and dynamic, of exuberant beauty. They are brushstrokes of light, which in photography can also be interpreted this way.

This poetry by the physicist and poet David Jou about colors, which appears in the book En la teva llum / En tu luz (Viena Edicions, 2022), goes very well with these photographs.

Colours. Color games Colors only.

What drunkenness!

Contrast, purity,

hue, saturation,

cold analytics,

warm emotion,

spectroscopic avidity.

The world says so much, with color,

and is so silent and hides so much

-in every atom, every star, every flower-

that some moments it is like singing

-sacred grueling enigma-

of the fullness of a gift.
