Bloodbath in the northern West Bank and Jerusalem

A 19-year-old Israeli soldier died this Saturday night after being shot by a Palestinian citizen at a checkpoint in East Jerusalem hours after the Israeli Army killed two Palestinians aged 16 and 19 during an incursion in the city of Jenin, in the northern West Bank.

It was the latest bloodshed in the deadliest day in the region in seven years and it comes hours before Israel begins to celebrate the festival of Sukkot or Tabernacles, in a week in which tens of thousands of Jews visit the Holy city.

In the early hours of the morning, the Israeli police were looking for the attacker at the checkpoint, who would have managed to flee on foot, with special forces and a helicopter. They would have made at least one arrest, although apparently not of the aggressor. Three other people have been injured, Israeli authorities have said.

As for the death of the two young Palestinians, it occurred on Saturday morning when the Israeli Army was carrying out a raid in search of terrorists. For unspecified reasons, the soldiers opened fire and killed the two teenagers.

Palestinian officials said soldiers entered the camp early Saturday and surrounded a house. In videos broadcast on social networks, exchanges of gunfire can be heard. The Palestinian Ministry of Health reported two deaths and 11 injuries, three of them seriously.
