Be Guevara crowned king of Moto3 in Australia

The Mallorcan rider Izan Guevara has been proclaimed Moto3 world champion in Australia by winning the Phillip Island race ahead of Deniz Öncü and Sergio García, his teammate and great rival for the title along with Dennis Foggia, who was ninth.

The Spaniard, from Jorge Martínez Aspar's team, Gaviota Gas Gas, is the 23rd Spaniard to be crowned in the World Cup. He gets 75 points more than Sergio García, who can still be runner-up, in contention with Dennis Foggia. It is the sixth world title achieved by the Aspar team in the small category.

In the Australian race, Izan Guevara recovered positions from the seventh position on the grid. He was soon in contention for victory with the front group alongside Ayumu Sasaki, Deniz Öncü and his partner. In the last lap, the Mallorcan increased the distance with his rivals and took the sixth victory of the season, which mathematically gave him the title.

"I feel very happy. It is incredible to be able to win the World Cup by winning the race. It was a great race and a very exciting season. I have given my best and have been working hard throughout the test. There is no more pressure, I am calm and now I just want to celebrate with the whole team”, said the first Mallorcan champion since Jorge Lorenzo.
