Bayern announce the signing of Harry Kane

Bayern Munich, champion of the German Bundesliga, has definitively confirmed this morning the signing of Englishman Harry Kane, from Tottenham, after negotiations that have lasted for almost the entire summer market.

Kane, until now captain of Tottenham Hotspur, has signed a contract until June 30, 2027, and will wear the number nine on his shirt with the Bavarian team, the Munich club said in a statement.

"I am very happy to be part of FC Bayern now. FC Bayern is one of the biggest clubs in the world and I have always said that I want to compete and prove myself at the highest level in my career. FC Bayern is characterized by its culture winner: it feels very good to be here", said the captain of the England team after confirming his transfer.

Kane, who began his career at Ridgeway Rovers, went through the youth ranks of Arsenal and Watford before joining Tottenham in 2009. He progressed at the London club until signing his first professional contract in July 2011.

Since 2011 he has played 435 official matches with Tottenham, in which he has scored 280. He was England's top scorer in 2016, 2017 and 2021 and is the second scorer in Premier League history after Alan Shearer.

With the English team he has played 84 games, in which he has scored 58 goals. He is their top scorer. In Russia 2018 he was the main scorer with six goals.

Jan-Christian Dreesen, Bayern's general manager, acknowledged that the signing of Kane had been "a long process" and that now, after the operation was completed, they were "very happy".

"Harry Kane has been our dream player from the very beginning, and he fits perfectly with us and the club's DNA, both in terms of sport and character. World-class center forwards have always been an important factor when FC Bayern have celebrated his greatest titles, and we are convinced that Harry Kane will continue this success story. Our fans can be excited about one of the best scorers of our time", he pointed out.

Thus, Bayern gains a reference center forward and of the first world level who had lost with the departure of the Polish Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona. Neither the German-Cameroonian Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting nor Sadio Mané himself could come close to the performance levels of the now Barça player and with Kane he once again reinforces his spearhead with the aim of once again being the protagonist in the Champions League.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy explained for his part that they tried "over a long period of time to involve Harry and his representatives in various forms of contract extension, both short-term and long-term."

"However, Harry was clear that he wanted a new challenge and that he would not sign a new contract this summer. Therefore, we have reluctantly accepted his transfer," said the Spurs manager.

“We have seen a product of our Academy system become one of the greatest players to ever don a Spurs jersey and become one of the elite forwards in world football. It's been a truly remarkable journey," he said.

“Harry's achievements and records speak volumes about the player, and throughout his 19 years at the club, Harry has been a professional role model, on and off the pitch, and an inspiration to young players who dream of following their path. steps," he added.

"I would like to thank Harry for everything he has done for us, all the memories, all the records. We wish him and his family all the best for the future. Needless to say, he will always be a valued member of the Spurs family, forever in our history."
