The German group, which settled in Spain 125 years ago in a small office on Pau Claris Street in Barcelona, ​​recorded sales to clients in Spain of 768 million euros last year, 3% more than the previous year. Its main business area is pharmaceuticals, with drug sales of 397 million euros, which grew by 1.2%. The agriculture division, which includes the group's historical business and that from the purchase of Monsanto, grew by 3%, to 256 million euros.

Self-care, for its part, grew the most: it had a turnover of 256 million, 7.7% more than the previous year, with especially strong growth in e-commerce, and in the main brands in the dermatology area ( Bepanthol or Canesten) and flu and cold, with its brands Desenfriol and Aspirin.

This year, the company completed the expansion of Berlimed, a factory located in Alcalá de Henares (Madrid) in which it has invested 74 million euros between 2019 and 2023. The modernization of the facilities, Kanahuati explained, has made it a global benchmark. for the group in the production of soft gelatin capsules for anti-flu products, multivitamins and food supplements, among others, which will concentrate all of its production there. The expansion will also allow the plant to manufacture contrast media for radiology and therapeutic treatments in liquid form.
