Barcelona reorganizes the Sagrada Família tourist buses after neighborhood complaints

Barcelona City Council will reorganize the tourist buses around the Sagrada Família, a long-standing demand from residents who complained about the saturation of buses in the neighborhood.

Specifically, the action includes eliminating seven parking spaces for coaches, five on Padilla Street and two on Consell de Cent Street, and moving them to Marina Street, near La Monumental, creating three spaces. In this way, the number of seats assigned to tourist buses will be reduced from 17 to 13.

The action will be carried out in two phases. The first will begin this Wednesday with the elimination of a parking lot on Padilla Street and the rest of the work will be completed in April.

The City Council highlights that these changes will allow “the sidewalks to be freed up” more frequently for residents and “will provide a clearer route” for buses that want to reach the Sagrada Família.

“Tourism is an economic engine and indisputable strategic sector for Barcelona, but it is evident that we have the challenge of properly and jointly managing this success, also with the neighborhood success, which experiences the effects in their daily lives,” said Jordi Valls. , Deputy Mayor of Economy, Finance, Economic Promotion and Tourism and councilor of the Eixample district.
