Barcelona Occasion Show: more than 2,500 semi-new cars are looking for a new owner

The high price of new cars, which have become extremely expensive in recent times, forces many families to resort to the used market to change vehicles. In Spain, 2.3 used cars are transferred for each one that has just left the factory. And, although interest in younger examples - less than five years old - is growing, too many old cars are sold in our country. According to the latest information offered by the Faconauto dealer association, the used vehicles that have been transferred this year have an average age of 13.1 years, which does not contribute to rejuvenating the national automobile fleet, which is one of the oldest in Europe.

Those who are thinking of changing their car by turning to the second-hand market will find a large showcase of models in Palace 8 of the Montjuïc complex (Barcelona). From November 22 to 26, this pavilion will host the 41st edition of the Occasion Show, organized by Fira de Barcelona with the support of the Motor Guild and the Catalan Association of Automotive Distribution (Fecavem).

The fair will have 2,500 pre-owned vehicles available to visitors, which can be increased to 5,000 units counting the replacement stock of exhibitors. All have a dealer warranty and have been previously inspected to ensure that they are in perfect condition.

These are models from different segments, mostly coming from kilometer zero, management, demonstration, courtesy and company cars. All with environmental label C from the DGT, at least, among plug-in hybrids, electric, gasoline, and, to a lesser extent, diesel, from the main brands on the market.

Among the participating automobile brands, stand out Audi, Cupra, Dacia, DS, Fiat, Ford, Honda, Hyundai, Jaguar, Jeep, Kia, Land Rover, Lexus, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, MG, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Opel, Peugeot, Renault, Seat, Skoda, Smart, SsangYong, Subaru, Suzuki, Toyota, Volvo and Volkswagen, as well as those grouped in Autovivo, Maas, M Automoción, Movento, Quadis Select and Spoticar.

According to Fecavem data, during last October 35,855 passenger cars and SUVs were sold in Catalonia, which represents a 63% increase compared to the same month last year. In the accumulated year, 255,813 transactions have been closed, representing a growth of 20% compared to 2022.

“In an economic context where prices remain high, purchasing a second-hand vehicle, at a more competitive price than a new one but with all the guarantees, is a more convenient alternative than ever,” said Jaume Roura, president of the Show. Chance.

Under the motto "Prices that fly" and coinciding with Black Friday, cars, with immediate delivery, will have significant discounts. To facilitate the visit for potential buyers, a website has been created where you can consult the vehicles available in the show; Included are photographs, details of its equipment, engine, energy label and prices. You can also request an appointment with the exhibitors' commercial team to see the vehicle first-hand during the event.

The fair will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Children under 18 years of age who are accompanied by an adult will enter for free. The price of general admission at the box office is 8 euros. If purchased in advance, it drops to half to enter during the day on Wednesday or Thursday and costs 6 euros to enter on Friday, Saturday or Sunday.
