Ayuso will allow educational centers to adapt schedules due to high temperatures

With the arrival of summer already in April and the high temperatures for the next few days, the Government of the Community of Madrid is going to take measures this Wednesday to alleviate the situation in educational and health centers and in the metro.

The Executive of Isabel Díaz Ayuso is going to launch an Action Plan for Episodes of High Temperatures, which will be operational from May 15 to September 15. Among the main actions in the educational field, the freedom of each center to adopt the schedules without reducing the schedule and without affecting the quality of the service and family reconciliation stands out. In addition, it is recommended to teach some subject outside the classroom and in the shade, on days that are very hot. In addition, the correct hydration of the students will be ensured and they will be urged to wear clothing according to the high temperatures. In addition, it will be necessary to avoid that complementary and extracurricular activities are carried out in places with a lot of sun.

In addition, 1.5 million will be invested in 31 public nursery schools to install floor cooling units for children from 0 to 3 years old, who also go to the centers in July.

It is expected that between this year and next, 38.2 million will be invested in actions in 35 schools and institutes to improve the thermal insulation of the facades, renew the electrical installations or change the air conditioning units. In addition, the installation of awnings and the protection of windows will be promoted to avoid direct solar radiation.

Regarding sports, the opening of the regional swimming pools will be brought forward to May 13 and they will remain open until September 9.

In the metro, the Government of the Community of Madrid is going to increase the frequencies to avoid long waits on the platforms. And as for the buses, it will be recommended to carry out periodic checks of the air conditioning equipment.

In health matters, it is planned to reinforce the workforce in hospitals in the event of alert 1 or 2 due to heat and the training of personnel who attend this type of emergency will be reinforced. In medium and long-term centers, it is planned to identify the need to increase beds to care for the most vulnerable groups. In addition, the hospital discharge will be communicated to the primary centers so that they can be followed up by telephone.

And in primary care, it is planned to carry out more exhaustive monitoring of vulnerable patients, notifying them of recommendations and advice for heat stroke.
