The Civil Guard has arrested two people in Jabugo (Huelva) after the death of a 58-year-old woman, the mother of one of them, for an alleged crime of intentional homicide and allegedly accused of omission in the care and illegal detention of this woman. dependent person (who had a 33% disability), who died "in a total state of abandonment."

As indicated by the Armed Institute in a press release, the Aracena Judicial Police team began this operation after receiving notification of the death of a person from Jabugo due to "a deplorable state of health, presenting symptoms of abandonment, severe malnutrition and dehydration."

In this sense, during the development of the investigations, the agents verified that the cohabitants of the deceased had omitted basic health, nutritional and social care for this person.

The deceased had a disability of 33% and various medical pathologies that required special needs in her care; however, as indicated by the Civil Guard, her relatives allegedly kept her confined in a room in the home, placing a padlock on the door, "remaining alone, without access to food, water or toilets, and they even had the kitchen of the property closed, using the same method, to prevent the deceased from freely accessing it."

Furthermore, as reported by the Benemérita, the cohabitants would have prevented and hindered access to the home of the medical professionals who visited the deceased, as well as the socio-health technician assigned to this person due to their degree of dependency, using intimidation. and verbal violence.

Also, as explained by the Civil Guard, they prohibited the rest of the members of the family unit from accessing or having contact with the dependent, "exclusively assuming her care and self-interestedly managing her pension."

Due to the "nonexistent and negligent care" that the victim received, he died, at the age of 58, on December 31, 2023, in a hospital center in the province, "in a deplorable state of health, presenting symptoms of abandonment, severe malnutrition, dehydration, joint stiffness and poor body hygiene.

For all this, once the necessary evidence was obtained, all the necessary medical documentation and statements taken in the family, health and social environment were compiled, the two alleged perpetrators were arrested by gathering the evidence that links them to the death of the woman. The Aracena Judicial Police Team participated in the Operation along with components of the Civil Guard from this town and Jabugo.
