Arrested for stealing motorcycles in Barcelona to later sell them for parts on the internet

The Mossos d'Esquadra have arrested two men for stealing motorcycles in Barcelona and selling them for parts through a buying and selling application. Through this practice they would have obtained more than 160,000 euros, police sources report.

All of the stolen motorcycles were of two specific makes and models and were stolen from public parking lots. The arrests occurred on March 19 after an investigation began at the end of last year into a series of motorcycle thefts in the city of Barcelona and its metropolitan area.

In fact, in mid-January, a woman whose motorcycle was stolen in November on Europa Street in Barcelona saw a part of her vehicle being sold on a second-hand object buying and selling application. For this reason, the agents reviewed the profile of this seller, who sold hundreds of motorcycle parts, and met with him pretending to be interested in the purchase.

Police sources detail that on January 11, two men who investigators identified presented themselves as sellers, since the victim confirmed that the part was from his motorcycle. At that time, they were only reported for receipt, as the value of the piece was less than €400 and it was a minor crime.

As the two men had numerous antecedents, it was decided to continue with the investigation and they were able to verify that in a storage room in a private parking lot in Cornellà de Llobregat is where they were in charge of breaking down the motorcycles and then selling them for parts.

The two detainees, aged 46 and 51, were brought to justice on March 22. Both arrested people have an extensive criminal history, one with about seventy police records and the other with more than a hundred.
