Andalusia reduces its population by 4,500 people until February 2024

There are more deaths than births in the south of the peninsula, a situation that has continued since 2020, according to data provided by the National Institute of Statistics and the Institute of Statistics and Cartography of the Government of Andalusia consulted by this newspaper.

Between the months of January and February, the number of births in Andalusia stands at 9,936 (4,860 female babies and 5,076 male babies), although the number of deaths has been higher, specifically, 14,428 deaths have been reported, then the population has been reduced by 4,498 people.

The curve that has been drawn for four years marks a clear trend: there are fewer and fewer births while the number of deaths, especially in ages between 85 and 89, increases, followed by negative growth in the community.

At the national level, the scenario is repeated, with 53,080 births - 12,570 women and 13,130 women - but 84,723 deaths, which led to a decrease in the population of 31,643 people.

In the month of February alone, 4,826 births were registered in Andalusia, of which 2,369 were women and 2,457 were men. At the national level, there were 25,699 births in the second month of the year, of which 12,570 were women and 13,130 were men.

Regarding deaths, in the month of February, 6,040 deaths were recorded in Andalusia, while 35,841 deaths were recorded nationwide.
