Ana Barceló wins the primaries and will be the socialist candidate for Mayor of Alicante

The spokesperson of the PSPV in Les Corts Valencianas and former councilor of Sanidad during the pandemic, Ana Barceló, will be the candidate of the PSPV for the Mayor of Alicante after winning the primaries against the other candidate, ex-councilor María José Adsuar.

Barceló, which was the bet of President Ximo Puig and the PSPV to try to achieve a good result in the always complicated city of Alicante, has won quite comfortably and has achieved 459 votes (65.2%) for 204 ballots from his rival (29%), the alternative backed by the provincial leadership led by Alejandro Soler. 40 blank votes have been registered with a high turnout of 65.4%.

The current socialist trustee in Les Corts now has the important challenge of reviving the party in Alicante. The victory of Barceló, who curiously could not participate in the vote because he was not registered in the group, demonstrates, once again, the control that the historic leader Ángel Franco exercises in the city.

Any other result would have been a surprise and would have been a major setback for the plans of the PSPV that have sought in the Alicante leader (she was mayor of Sax) a well-known candidate to fight for mayor.

Those of Alicante have not been the only primaries that have been held today. The results have been the following:
