Alber Muncha, the tracker of soccer players' cars: “Courtois sent me photos of the Porsche he had bought”

Wherever there is a luxury car in the capital, Alber Muncha may be nearby. Graduated from INEF (Physical Education and Sports Sciences) and passionate about exclusive cars, the tiktoker describes himself as a paparazzi of the motor world. And the thing is, just a few years ago, he began recording the footballers' vehicles to upload them to their different social profiles. Now, more than eight hundred thousand followers later on TikTok, we find ourselves facing a gallery of authentic automotive gems.

Some of his videos have around 38 million views, such as the one in which he films a Lamborghini on the street and, coincidentally, finds himself on the opposite sidewalk with a Mercedes-Maybach Virgil Abloh. Limited edition, it is a model of which only 150 units were created. Thus, Alber Muncha guides us through his videos through different collectible and luxury automobile models, telling anecdotes and curiosities from the motor world that surrounds soccer players.

You are passionate about sports, but also about cars, how have you united these two worlds?

Well, I have always really liked sports and I practice them often, especially soccer and mountain biking; But, when it comes to cars, I'm not the typical one who already liked them since I was little. I saw them and didn't understand them, almost like when you see one you like, but you don't know which one it is.

It was starting in high school when I sat next to a friend who loved them and his passion infected me. So, in 2014 I started uploading content to my social networks. At that time it was just cars, no sports.

And when did you decide to focus on footballers' cars?

That was in 2021. I noticed the people who filmed the footballers in Barcelona and, from time to time, I saw a car in the background and thought: I want to see the car too. So I went to record in Valdebebas and that first video worked well. Then, I did the same at Atlético and I realized that people also liked to see the cars.

Some of your videos now have 38 million views. Have you been surprised by the impact you have had?

Yes, yes, yes it surprised me. When a video goes viral and you see the numbers, you don't realize the impact. However, when you walk down the street and someone recognizes you, it's rare. Especially since it's so specific. I understand being recognized at a car event, but in a shopping center... that's impressive.

What do you look for when choosing a car to film?

The more exclusive it is, the better. For example, if it is a special edition. Additionally, I pay attention to the color configuration of the car inside and out. For example, it is not the same to record the typical, in quotes, red Ferrari; What if you see a navy blue one with gold rims and a brown interior. I like it to be eye-catching.

You seem to be everywhere, how do you locate the footballers?

I'm basically like a paparazzi. Many times, people notify me on Instagram or WhatsApp, but other times I am the one who sees it firsthand because I know the areas they usually go to.

And what reaction do they usually have?

It's usually good. For example, when I was recording the Betis team I spoke with Rodri, who has a BMW M3 and he was cool with the video I made. And something that made me excited: Courtois from Madrid responded to me on Instagram and, in fact, sent me images of the Porsche that he had bought before it came out.

This has opened many doors for you, hasn't it?

Well look, as I told you, I started recording for Real Madrid and, a couple of weeks ago, I did a collaboration with them, through BMW, in which they invited me to a game in the box and it was crazy because they didn't you wait You go to Valdebebas to record to see what happens and, in a couple of years you are doing a collaboration with Real Madrid.

Can you live exclusively from your content?

Yes, with collaborations and so on, yes. Little by little we are growing. However, not as much as I would like.

And what is the relationship with brands like?

It's good, but it's hard to get to. You have to keep in mind that they are not used to leaving a car for a profile like mine because I am not a magazine. Although, when it comes to social networks I do the same: reviews, tests, etc. People are going to watch my videos and that's what interests them.

What is the most amazing car you have ever borrowed?

Well, it was two weeks ago, a Maserati Gran Turismo. I contacted Maserati through a friend and, after insisting a lot, I got them to let me have it for four days so I could make videos and share them on social networks.

Where has your car search taken you? Have you traveled only with the intention of recording one?

Yes, because most of the car events are outside and, well, I'm going to tell you about a very interesting one that I did recently. I went to Los Angeles because I wanted to meet a YouTuber, Manny Khoshbin, who has a collection of incredible cars and I was able to record them in his garage. He was great.

Finally, tell me about a car that you would love to drive, but haven't had the chance to (yet).

I'm going to tell you two. One is more accessible, although difficult: a Lamborghini Aventador; and then I would like to try the so-called “hypercars”, which are cars that are over a million, such as the Ferrari Laferrari or the Bugatti. Benzema, for example, has a Laferrari and it is very difficult to see and spectacular. Trying one of these would be my dream.
