Ignacio Aguado has been discharged from Ciudadanos after nine years of militancy and more than a year without charges in the party. As announced this Monday in a letter, the former vice president of the Community of Madrid between 2019 and 2021 has used reasons such as the "lack of leadership" and "strategy" of the management, led by Inés Arrimadas, to argue his decision .

As Aguado recalls in a letter published on Twitter, two months ago he requested the resignation of the entire National Executive of Citizens and the convening of an Extraordinary Council due to the "disastrous" electoral results in Andalusia, Madrid, Catalonia and Castilla y León .

"However, neither of these two things has happened. On the contrary, the party's leadership has decided to flee forward, which I do not share, disguised as a refoundation in which I do not believe," laments the former leader of Ciudadanos en the Community of Madrid, alluding to the proposal to refound the Arrimadas party.

The former orange leader in Madrid, converted from time to time to a talk show host on the Cuatro program Everything is a lie, affirms that the problem is neither the ideas nor the founding principles, but rather the "total absence of strategy, the wear and tear of the brand and the lack of a leadership capable of getting voters excited again".

Aguado reiterates that in order to remedy this, a refoundation is not needed, but rather a congress, but in the event that this refoundation were necessary, it would have to be promoted, according to Aguado, by a new Executive "and not by the same one that has been chaining one electoral failure after another".

"A year and a half after having left all my positions in the party, I withdraw as a member with enormous sorrow, but also with my head held high and infinite gratitude to all my colleagues and voters who trusted me to lead Citizens, first to the regional Parliament and, later, to the Government of the Community of Madrid," he says.

The former Madrid vice president ends the letter stating that his time at Ciudadanos ends but not his "love for Spain" and his "dedication" to bequeath to his son "a country of free and equal citizens."

A year after the electoral bump of Ciudadanos in Madrid, Aguado launched a Jastag. A communication consultancy specializing in the creation of multimedia content and in whose social networks it is defined as a solution to "revolutionize" the way in which small and medium-sized companies communicate.

"Today more than ever, you are what you communicate and if you don't communicate, you simply don't exist," he said in a column published in Dirigentes digital.
