A worker dies electrocuted in a stationery store in Tetouan due to a fire

A worker at a stationery and bookstore located in the Madrid district of Tetuán has died in a small fire that occurred this afternoon at the premises, a spokesperson for Emergencies Madrid has informed Europa Press.

The fire, whose causes are currently unknown, started around 12:30 p.m. yesterday in the establishment located at 24 Marques de Viana Street and generated intense smoke.

The Madrid City Council Firefighters went to the scene and found inside the premises, in the warehouse area, a 59-year-old worker from the premises in cardiorespiratory arrest.

Then, the Samur-Civil Protection paramedics performed advanced resuscitation maneuvers on him without success, so they were only able to confirm his death. The man had injuries and large burns due to possible electrocution, with injuries from the entry and exit of the electric current. He was next to a resistance heater that was turned on at the time.

The firefighters quickly extinguished the establishment and secured the area by cutting off the electricity supply to the stationery store's box and cutting off the general connection from the property's portal.

The Municipal Police Judicial Coordination Station investigates the circumstances of this work accident. The Workplace Accident Group and also the Scientific Police section are acting in technical support functions for the investigation, the same sources have indicated.
