A woman died yesterday in Sant Pere Pescador (Alt Emprodà) after falling with the vehicle she was driving into a channel of the Fluvià river, in the municipality.
The notice was received when a few minutes passed after 10:15 p.m. According to sources from the Generalitat Fire Department, the vehicle - where only the driver was traveling - was overturned inside the channel one and a half meters deep.
When the firefighters arrived at the scene of the accident, the victim had been removed from the water and resuscitation maneuvers were being performed on him. However, nothing could be done to save his life.
Up to the point of the accident, ten Fire Departments were transferred, including an aquatic rescue van and two rescue boats. The Underwater Special Actions Group (GRAE) carried out the checks in the water to rule out that there were more occupants inside the car.
