A violent rain storm leaves the streets of Rio de Janeiro under water

The torrential rains this past weekend in the Rio de Janeiro region have left a very desolate balance. To the spectacular images showing the streets of the metropolitan area completely flooded, we must add the sad figure of twelve people dead, one missing and hundreds of victims.

Río and the surrounding towns have entered a state of emergency due to the effects of heavy rainfall: floods, landslides and the fall of trees and other urban elements.

The city was blocked during the weekend due to landslides and 21 flooded points. Public transport service was affected and some train, metro and bus lines had to be suspended.

Duque de Caixas is one of the municipalities hardest hit by the storm and which leaves the most spectacular images of the storm.
