The Mossos d'Esquadra have arrested a 38-year-old repeat offender for beating and severely injuring a woman over 60 in Cistella (Alt Empordà). According to the Diari de Girona and confirmed by ACN, the events occurred around seven thirty in the afternoon on Thursday in a farmhouse in the Upper Empordà town.
Some cyclists who were circulating in the area heard the woman's cries for help and did not hesitate to call 112. Once they arrived at the scene, the Mossos found the victim very badly injured and completely bloody. The Medical Emergency System (SEM) assisted her at the site and transferred her to the Josep Trueta hospital in Girona where she was admitted.
A few meters from the scene, the agents found the alleged perpetrator of the events and detained him. The arrested person must answer for an alleged attempted homicide and the Mossos are investigating whether it could be a case of sexist violence and the reasons for the attack.
