The general secretary of the Socialist Group in the Cortes of Castilla y León, Ángel Hernández, from Soria, was arrested yesterday for allegedly threatening and banging on the door of the house of his partner in Soria, who is also an agent of the National Police in said city. The PSOE has announced that it is provisionally suspending his militancy.
Through a statement, the socialists have made this decision "until the facts are clarified", while at the same time they have asked for "prudence and respect" towards police and judicial actions.
As reported by the National Police to the media, at 11:30 p.m. on Monday, a call was received on 091 from a person who claimed that a man was repeatedly knocking and shouting at the door of his home. Upon receiving the notice, a National Police patrol arrived at the scene and identified the person, who was transported to the police station. At the time of the arrest, on Monday evening, Hernández was very upset and it was necessary to transfer him first to the Soria Hospital.
Subsequently, and once discharged, the National Police transferred the socialist prosecutor to the cells for a crime of gender violence. Early this Tuesday morning, the detainee was at the police station to give a statement.
The vice spokesperson of the PSOE in the Cortes of Castilla y León, Patricia Gómez, has guaranteed that the party will act in a "forceful and coherent" manner if the situation in which Hernández's arrest occurred is confirmed.
"It causes me, if true, deep sadness," said Patricia Gómez, who has assured that, if the facts are confirmed, the PSOE "will act forcefully and coherently." "The PSOE will act as we have always done with these types of acts but allow me to wait to know the facts, I would not like to make an assessment about something that I do not know," the vice spokesperson concluded.
