A photographic and gastronomic exhibition honors the shepherds and cattle in Àssua

For years, shepherds have been the photographers who have immortalized the work that a single shepherd does to care for more than 4,200 sheep that spend the summer on the Llessui mountain. Now, with the desire that the protagonists of these images be the first to see them, a large-format exhibition has been carried out in situ, at 2,200 meters above sea level, next to the place where the shepherds cure the sheep. The day 'Shepherds. Tribute to an offici' was held this Saturday and had a hundred people.

Many of the shepherds who take their flocks to the mountains of the Àssua valley to spend the summer, either in the mountains of Llessui, Seurí or Caregue, participated in the day. A total of twenty joined the party.

Most of these shepherds or their sheep are the protagonists of the photographs that were exhibited on the mountain. A total of twenty-four large-format images from eight photographers from across the country. Jordi Borràs, Jordi Peró, Mariona Batllés, Marta Lluvich, Oriol Clavera, Oriol Riart, Pere Bascones and Pepe Camps are the photographers who have participated in the exhibition with images of the transhumance of the sheep towards the Llessui mountain, of their care, of the day when the flocks are chosen to return to the day when they return to return.

During the day the participants have been able to talk with the photographers and discover what it is that attracts them so much about this trade and the Llessui mountain that they immortalize it on a recurring basis.

The festive day ended with a meal in which lamb meat was the protagonist. Among the dishes on the menu were sweet lamb ham, carpaccio, girella, lamb confit, palpís or lamb meat pate. The party ended with accordion music.

The tribute was made possible thanks to the National Park of Aigüestortes and Estany de Sant Maurici, the Rialp City Council and the Cambuleta Cultural Association. Given the success of this first day, since there were people who were unable to enter, the organizers are considering the possibility of a second edition next year.
