Agents of the National Police have arrested a minor allegedly involved in the rape, on October 28, of a woman in Malvarrosa de València, and after giving a statement he has been released.
The suspect was identified from the first moment, but he hid for weeks and his relatives, in conversations with the agents, conveyed the idea that he would turn himself in later. Finally, during these past holidays, the young man reappeared and was surprised by investigators, the National Police reported this Monday.
The sexual attack occurred next to a Civil Guard barracks and security camera recordings show how up to six individuals surround the victim or approach her at different times during the attack.
The investigation of the matter must determine the degree of involvement of each of the four detainees so far, and only one of the detained adults has been imprisoned. In addition, two of them have a history of crimes of a similar nature.
An Investigative Court in Valencia will follow the proceedings that affect adults, while the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office will take charge of the investigations into the alleged participation of the recently arrested suspect.
The Police suspect that the young people recorded a video or took photos with their phones due to several flashes of lights that they observed at the time of the group rape when they viewed the recordings.
For this reason, the investigators intercepted the cell phone of one of the detainees to analyze it and search for these alleged images, and also asked the judge for the corresponding authorization to seize the phones of the other two arrested men. The victim had met her attackers on the terrace of Akuarela, a popular entertainment venue in the area, and from there she went out to the street with one of her attackers.
Two other young people also left the establishment and hid behind a motorhome until a third member of the group arrived, this one already in the company of the victim. Then the fourth person involved joined the group and a few minutes later the sexual assault apparently began.
The violation occurred in the back of a vehicle, parked next to the lot that serves as parking for the nightclub, reports the National Police.
