During the early hours of Friday to Saturday, a group of citizens frustrated the consummation of a crime of sexual assault in Vitoria-Gasteiz, where the La Blanca festivities have been held since this Friday. The 49-year-old alleged perpetrator of the sexual assault has been arrested and will be brought to justice once the proceedings are completed.
As reported by the Basque Department of Security, the events took place after 2:00 a.m., in the vicinity of the Hospital de Santiago, when a Citizen Protection patrol observed a man running after several people were chasing him while they rebuked him.
The agents have intercepted the individual and have collected information about the event. Several witnesses have told the ertzainas that the man was lying on the ground over a woman whom he was touching against her will. The victim, who was in the vicinity, has corroborated the facts and has stated that the alleged perpetrator has taken her by force to a remote area, where she has kept him "retained and immobilized."
The ertzainas have proceeded to arrest the man for an alleged crime against sexual freedom and have transferred him to police stations. Once the proceedings are completed, he will be placed at the disposal of the Guard Court of Vitoria.
