A fiber optic installer arrested for stealing a piggy bank with 2,500 euros from a house in Cambrils

The Mossos d'Esquadra arrested a fiber optic installer on Friday as the alleged perpetrator of the theft of a piggy bank from a home in Cambrils (Tarragona).

The 39-year-old man went with another worker to install the service that the owners of the house had contracted with a private company.

During the morning both were working in one of the rooms where the piggy bank was visible, according to the victim.

When they left, the piggy bank with 2,500 euros had disappeared. At first, the workers denied knowing what had happened to the object when questioned by the owner. She even went to look for them outside the house, when they were collecting the utensils, but one of them had left.

Mossos d'Esquadra agents searched the workers' van but the piggy bank did not appear. However, they continued investigating until the afternoon of the same day, the worker who had left the place, admitted to the police station that he had stolen the piggy bank. As he explained, he had hidden it in one of the telephone boxes located on the public road.

The man was arrested for the crime of theft and was released the same day with the obligation to appear at the investigative court that is investigating the case on the previously established day. The piggy bank was returned to its owner with all the money inside.
