A cyber attack on the educational material company Iddink compromises family data

The Dutch company Iddink, dedicated to the sale of educational material to families and schools, also online, has suffered a cyber attack since last Thursday by the cybercriminal group called Cactus that compromises the data of its clients, including those of its subsidiary in Spain.

As reported this Saturday by the company, based in the Barcelona town of Pallejà, it indicates "certain data from Iddink's systems in the Netherlands have been compromised" and that the information at risk may include personal information, "such as names, addresses e-mail addresses, telephone numbers, checking account numbers of clients of students' families who have placed orders for books or educational items.

Iddink indicates that it has "immediately" taken the necessary measures to "contain and limit" the effect of the attack and that it has closed the systems that could be affected. In addition, he has hired an external cybersecurity expert company "to further support the internal task force and activate a response plan."

"A thorough investigation is currently underway to evaluate exactly what data has been compromised and determine the extent of the security breach."

For its part, the Dutch police are investigating this cyberattack after Iddink has notified the relevant data authorities, as well as organizations and individuals who may be affected.
