A 67-year-old man dies after being poisoned by a brazier in Colmenar Viejo

A 67-year-old man died this Monday after becoming poisoned at his home located on Islas Barbados Street in the Madrid municipality of Colmenar Viejo due to the poor combustion of a brazier.

Other relatives were also at the home, one of them another 65-year-old man, who has been transferred to La Paz Hospital by Summa 112 and the Red Cross with poisoning due to carbon monoxide inhalation. He was conscious and his condition was "moderate." There were also two more people on the upper floor of the house who have received psychological attention from Summa 112.

Javier Chivite, emergency spokesperson for 112 of the Community of Madrid, explains that when the emergency services arrived "they were only able to verify the man's death due to carbon monoxide poisoning."

The firefighters have ventilated the house and the Civil Guard is investigating what happened.
