Apple opens public betas to test its new operating systems

Apple has opened the public betas of its new operating systems macOS 14 Sonoma, iOS 17, iPadOS 17, watchOS 10 and tvOS 17. There is only one system left out of the tests, visionOS, that of the Vision Pro viewer, since, due to the fact that the device won't hit the US market until early next year, there's no way it can be tested. The public beta versions have already been tested by thousands of developers around the world and, although they may contain bugs, they have a higher degree of reliability.

The first betas for developers were available on June 5, when Apple presented its new operating systems at the WWDC world conference in addition to several important hardware innovations, including the Vision Pro viewer, which took center stage at the event. The company recommends installing the betas only on companion devices, as the test versions may be less stable than the one released from the fall.

Users who install the beta versions of the operating systems have the Feedback app in which they can tell Apple engineers about the bugs they can detect. The purpose of this entire system is that the final versions of each operating system arrive in the fall as a reliable product. In order to access the public betas system, all you have to do is register on the official website. Next, on the device, within the Software Update option, the possibility of installing the corresponding beta will appear.

In any case, in addition to trying to test with secondary devices, it is a security measure to make backup copies of the files stored on each device.
