Villarreal does not give up in its European fight and gives a good account of Celta

Villarreal, with a brace from Nicolas Jackson (m.2 and m.12) and a goal from Ramón Terrats (m.70), showed their attacking power against Celta who, although they closed the gap with a goal from Strand Larsen (m.29), was not able to face a successful yellow team that is approaching Real Sociedad and moving away from Real Betis in their fight for Europe.

Just two minutes were enough for Nico Jackson to put Villarreal ahead at La Cerámica. A loss of the ball in the midfield, Tapia took advantage of the yellow team to go on the counterattack with two quick ones so that the striker became great in the one-on-one against Villar.

Tapia, who had to be treated by Vigo's medical services after the goal, called for a foul but, after two minutes of review in the video arbitration room, the goal went up on the scoreboard. The game, which had to be stopped again due to an anxiety attack by a fan in the stands, resumed with almost no reaction capacity for Celta, who conceded Jackson's second goal (m.12), who received a pass in depth from Lo Celso and dodged Villar to score a brace.

Meanwhile, Celta tried to prevail on Cervi's left wing, but Villarreal, very comfortable with the distance of two goals, played loose and without pressure with the speed of their attackers. In one of the arrivals of Quique Setién's team, González Fuertes called Yeremy for a foul, but from the VAR they indicated that it was inside the area and it turned out to be a penalty (m.26).

Parejo grabbed the ball and defined the panenka, but his shot went high. Celta immediately responded with a long ball from Núñez that Strand Larsen snagged and, after a combination with Cervi, sent it into the back of the net (m.29). After the missed penalty and the visitor's goal, the game changed. Villarreal began to falter defensively and Celta found space and opportunities to do damage, but not score.

After the break, Lo Celso was replaced by Terrats, who, after a cross from Alberto Moreno, shot, but his shot was providentially deflected by Javi Galán while Celta grew with the entry of Fran Beltrán, Iago Aspas and Gabri Veiga. Reina successfully blocked a shot from Larsen and, when the team from Vigo was better, Terrats scored the third (m.70).

Celta tried to close the gap in search of an equalizer, but despite the fact that their high pressure was effective and they managed to live in the last minutes in the rival area, their goal attempts were without danger. Iago Aspas and Gabri Veiga came close to scoring, but Celta did not take advantage of their opportunities and they had to leave Vila-real empty-handed.
