In October 2022, the two parties had announced an initial agreement confirming that the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup would be broadcast free-to-air in 28 European territories, but under this revised agreement, the main European broadcast markets have been added. , along with Ukraine.
“FIFA is pleased to extend the agreement with the European Broadcasting Union for the transmission of the upcoming FIFA Women's World Cup to include the five main markets within their existing networks, namely France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK, as well as the Ukraine, thus ensuring maximum exposure for the tournament," said FIFA President Gianni Infantino. “As part of this agreement, EBU has committed to working to broadcast at least one hour of dedicated women's football content weekly on its own digital platform and broadcast network.
