Ángel Torres: “Laporta and Deco have been the only ones who have asked me about Greenwood”

Ángel Torres, president of Getafe, has revealed that Laporta and Deco spoke with him to show interest in incorporating Mason Greenwood next season: “The only one who asked me was Laporta when he was here. “I spoke with him and Deco and they asked me why they like the player,” said the leader of the Madrid team, a club that owns 25% of the British's rights.

According to the president of Getafe, Greenwood is comfortable in the Madrid city, but the decision has to be made by Manchester United, a team with which he has a contract until 2025 and which owns 75% of his rights: “If it depends on the boy and of the parents, will continue. Manchester seems to want to sell him, but I think he is going to stay one more year,” Ángel Torres declared in an interview for Radio Marca.

Although the Mancunian club wants to get rid of Greenwood, the negotiations are not going to be easy, because Manchester United wants to sell him for around 50 million euros, an unaffordable price for Getafe and even for Barça.

Furthermore, if the Barça team wants to carry out the operation, it will have to sell some of its assets so that the accounts balance: “We have to sell 80% of the Spanish clubs and then buy, not only Barcelona, but also Getafe, the Atlético...", indicated Ángel Torres.

Greenwood, who has seven goals and six assists in the League, arrived at Getafe because Manchester United did not have him, because he was arrested and formally accused of rape by his girlfriend in January 2022. However, the police withdrew him the charges a year later and, currently, Greenwood and Robson live together in the capital of Spain with the son they have in common.
