Green fields and waterfalls, is the drought over?

The Government is studying lifting the drought emergency in Catalonia after increasing reserves by 65% with the latest rains. Another fact: the Ter and Llobregat reservoirs have gained 60 hm3 since the beginning of March, the equivalent of the water produced by the El Prat de Llobregat desalination plant over the course of an entire year.

At a landscape level, this translates into greener fields and waterfalls again with abundant water, as well as swollen rivers and changes in the environment of swamps like Sau.

At this point, in May, the cereals are very enjoyable, the rains have been very beneficial. We hope that this month does not spoil it, since there are years in which the heat is very intense and the grain is migrated, losing specific weight, and therefore the harvest is of lower quantity and lower quality. We want to be optimistic, however. Let us remember that saying: “Pel maig grana l'ordi i rosseja el blat” (“In May the barley grains and the wheat browns”).

The last rains have made waterfalls like Salt del Mir come back to life. Located in the Sierra de Bellmunt, between Vidrà and Santa Maria de Besora, straddling the counties of Ripollès and Osona, this waterfall with a drop of 35 meters is recovering its best appearance.

In the Salt del Cabrit, the stream of Sant Martí Sescorts rushes into the pools and the Sau swamp, in front of the monastery of Sant Pere de Casserres.

After the rain, he is recovering his best version. To get there is an attractive excursion for this time of year. To get to Salt del Cabrit by car, you have to go towards l'Esquirol on the BV-5207 road. And there, take the C-153 towards Manlleu.

Just before reaching the Sant Martí Sescorts turnoff there is another one on the road on the right if you are arriving from Barcelona (on the left if you are arriving from Cantonigròs or Rupit from l'Esquirol).

Following the Vora Ter path in Torelló, in Osona, you can see the green fields and the swollen river after the last rains.

In this series of images we see the clean green cereal fields grown with the rain, located around Caldes de Montbui.

You have to see how the Sau reservoir is recovering with the latest rains. You can now navigate with the kayak again.

In these images by Cardedeu we can see a landscape dominated by green tones. An intense green that today is possible to enjoy due to the recent rains.

But in addition to the green, we also enjoyed other spring sensations and colors such as the passing of merely decorative clouds that left small shadows that moved quickly.

In addition, pleasant temperatures with the sun, very comfortable. As if that were not enough, we also enjoyed the blue sky, the sound of birds or the calm of leaving roads and houses behind. Without a doubt, a 100% spring day and necessary to recharge your batteries.

In these photographs we see the solitary poppy among the green fields of Moianès.

The Llosses stream is taking on a magnificent appearance with the recent rains.

Not only the green fields stand out, but also the yellow of the rapeseed fields still shines, as in Sant Vicenç de Torelló.

In Marata the rural landscape stands out, with countless fields where farmers farm. Some crops that at this point have very intense green colors.

All this under the clear blue sky, without any clouds. Without a doubt, a very suitable day to walk, have a coffee outdoors or to contemplate landscapes.
