The men's 4x100 medley relay secures the Olympic ticket with its place in the final

The men's 4x100 medley relay secures the Olympic ticket with its place in the final

The men's relay of the 4x100 medley (18:37 CET) and the 50 backstroke (17:02 CET), again with Hugo González, will be the Spanish representation in the final afternoon finals at the Doha World Cup this Sunday, where it will not be the women's 4x100 medley relay, which was not classified.

The men's 4x100 medley relay team, with Hugo González (backstroke), Carles Coll (breaststroke), Mario Mollá (butterfly) and Sergio de Celis, was third with 3:33.57, behind the Americans (3:32.53) and Netherlands (3:32.89). Poland, Canada, Italy, Austria and Ireland have also qualified.

The finals session will be opened by Hugo González with the 50 backstroke and the possibility of adding a third medal to those achieved in the 100 and 200 backstroke. The Spaniard has qualified fifth with 24.60. In the semifinals, the best time was set by Australian Isaac Cooper (24.12), who broke the ocean record.

The American Hunter Armstrong (24.43), the South African Pieter Coetze and the Polish Ksawery Coetze, both with 24.46; The Italian Micheli Lamberti (24.68) and the American Michael Andrew (24.70) will make up the final.

In the women's 4x100 medley, the Spanish (Carmen Weiler, Jimena Ruiz, Paula Juste and María Daza) were eleventh, with the same time as Greece (4:04.01). The cut was marked by Poland with 4:02.63.

The semifinals were dominated by Canada (3:58.63) ahead of Sweden (3:59.35), who were the only teams that swam under 4:00. Australia, the Netherlands, China, Hong Kong, Italy and Poland will also be in the final.
