The four possible scenarios for a goodbye for Rubiales

Four scenarios take place in a few key hours to find out the future of Luis Rubiales, against the ropes for his kiss with Jenni Hermoso and his attitude in general after the World Cup final. The resignation, a motion of censure within the Federation itself, an internal disqualification and on demand, or that the case falls into the hands of the Court of Arbitration for Sport through the Higher Sports Council are the possible outcomes.

The most immediate solution to the conflict involves the resignation of Rubiales, an end that dozens of personalities and organizations have requested since the images of the president of the Federation came out at the end of the World Cup final. Popular, media and institutional pressure, led by the Government of Spain, could bring down the leader, a decision that he would already be weighing according to various media.

It would take place from within the Spanish Federation and could take place within the framework of the assembly this Friday. This measure, if accepted by the CSD, would stop any action by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (TAD) on the complaints filed by Sumar, Miguel Galán, Xavier Estrada Fernández and La Liga F against the president of the Federation. With this à la carte punishment, a file would not be opened from the TAD. In addition, if the disqualification is for half a year, Rubiales could stand for the RFEF elections, scheduled for the second semester of 2024, as is the case with the federations of all Olympic sports.

The CSD would place the different complaints against Rubiales in the hands of the TAD so that it could analyze them through the opening of a file. It could result in a disqualification of between one month and fifteen years. With this, there would be an obligation to appoint an acting vice president.

Rubiales could be forced to leave office through a motion of no confidence by the 140 members that make up the Federation's assembly after considering that the president has violated the RFEF's Protocol of Action against Sexual Violence. This measure, the most complicated to carry out, should be requested by a third of the components, therefore a minimum of 46 members, and later it should be approved by two thirds, that is, 96 assembly members.
