The footballers' union warns PSG: "There will be sanctions if Mbappé is marginalized"

Kylian Mbappé's novel of the future does not stop adding chapters. The informations of the last days show a total rupture of the relations between the player and the Paris Saint-Germain by the different positions around the future of the forward. The Parisian club is sure that Mbappé plans to go free in the summer of 2024 to Real Madrid and threatens to force him to sign out now, renew or spend a season in the stands.

However, this measure could cause problems for the reigning champions of France. The president of the French footballers union (UNFP), Philippe Piat, commented in an interview with RMC that there would be "sanctions if a player is marginalized for reasons that are not sporting".

"This would become illegal under labor law. When it comes to a player who is not well known, it can be made to believe that he is not in shape. As for the best player in the world, you cannot suggest that it is not for reasons of sanction," Piat said. He also made it clear that they will not hesitate to act "to allow Mbappé to train normally, probably to force the club to play with him because otherwise it would be harassment," he said.

Piat explained that under that law the team has full control over its squad before September 1, but after that date "it can't do what it wants. With a squad that is often bloated, you have to create an osmosis between the players who have to play."

At the moment the French team has not hesitated to make it clear that their intentions are not just words. Mbappé was left out of the pre-season tour that the club is carrying out in Japan, and it is expected that if nothing changes before the market closes, the punishments will continue for the French star.

On this, Piat insisted that they expect things to be resolved, but that they will intervene if there is no change in the position of the team or the player. "If the two parties have not agreed once the transfer window is over, we will have to ask PSG to play Mbappé."

For his part, Luis Enrique, PSG's new coach, has not referred directly to the case, although he did leave the door open for departures and arrivals. "The squad is about to be strengthened and still has to be discarded. We are going to take advantage of these tour matches to find sensations," declared the Spaniard.

September 1 is the closing date of the transfer market, so both parties will have to find a solution in the few more than two months of time they have left. Otherwise, there is no doubt that chapters will continue to be added to a novel that seems to have no end.
