Rubiales points out that kissing Jenni meant the same as kissing “one of my daughters”

The former president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and former vice-president of UEFA, Luis Rubiales, continues to justify his innocence after the non-consensual kiss of Jennifer Hermoso during the celebration of the World Cup won by the women's team. In an interview given to journalist Piers Morgan and published in The Sun, Rubiales indicated that his intentions were “noble and enthusiastic” and compared the kiss to the one he could have given to one of his daughters.

“The meaning of the kiss to Jenni would have been exactly the same as that of a kiss to one of my daughters,” said Rubiales, who announced his resignation from all his positions last Monday, 21 days after the non-consensual kiss and the obscene gestures that he made during the match in the presidential box of the stadium with Queen Letizia.

Furthermore, the former player has also indicated that his intentions “were 100% non-sexual”, that “there was no harm, no sexual content, no aggression” and has highlighted that, in the environment in which he operates, "among friends and family "That's very, very common."

Despite the staunch defense of his honor and his intentions, the former president of the RFEF understands that "he should have acted in a more solemn, cold and diplomatic manner." He admits that he should have done things differently, although he describes the kiss as "a very happy moment, a celebration, a moment of euphoria."

Rubiales announced during the interview with Piers Morgan his resignation: "I'm going to do it, of course I can't continue with my job." He justified his decision, made after speaking with his father and his daughters, to be able to defend himself and not stain the world of football any further.

“Some friends very close to me told me 'Luis, now you have to focus on your dignity and continue with your life; If not, you are probably going to harm the people you love and the sport you love,” he stated during the interview.
