Ricky Rubio sets a date for his return to Europe

Ricky Rubio, at 32, already has a date for his return to Europe after 12 years in the NBA and after putting on the four-team jersey. The Masnou point guard has explained on the humor podcast La Sotana that he has no intention of extending his stay in the North American League once his contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers expires in 2025.

"Now I'm starting to consider going back. I have two years left on my contract, maybe one. We'll see. I want to go home. To Barcelona", explained the Catalan, who did not want to clarify if he prefers to put on the shirt of the club where he grew up again , Joventut, or Barça, where he achieved his greatest success in Europe with the conquest of the Euroleague in 2010.

"I will not sign another contract. I may be only one more year. Until my son starts Primary. I don't want to be there much longer either," he insisted on his desire to return to one of his former teams and even try out for Bàsquet Girona . "I'll talk to the president. It would be fine. I'd like to," he said between laughs about a possible conversation with Marc Gasol, his friend and leader of the Girona club.

He also assured that "it would be nice to coincide" with Pau Ribas, a 36-year-old veteran player from La Penya, who accompanied Rubio in La Sotana. "I love Badalona and I loved it very much, but I did not end well with the president who was there at that time," he recalled about his complicated departure from the green-black entity at just 18 years old bound for Barça.

Despite his desire to "go home", the man from Masnou does not rule out one last adventure in another European country. "I would like to go to Italy, I have always said so. But I don't know if they will let me go. I like the country. The language, the food...", explained a Rubio who this season has gradually returned to the Cavaliers' rotation after overcoming a serious knee injury, the second he has suffered in his career.
