Palencia's Marta García, Spanish record and Olympic minimum

The Palencia athlete Marta García broke the Spanish record of 5,000 meters Short Track (formerly indoor track) last morning in Boston (United States), during the 'John Thomas Terrier Classic'.

As announced on social networks by the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation, the athlete did something "crazy" by leaving the time at 14:46.37, which also means she will now obtain a ticket for the Paris Olympic Games by lowering the minimum established by the International Federation.

Marta García's time is also the second best European mark in the history of the discipline and the third best Spanish mark including the outdoor 5,000 meter times.

In the North American race, the athlete from Palencia finished in fourth position behind the Ethiopians Senayet Getachew, Fentaye Belayneh and Aynadis Mebratu, who dominated the race.
