TAMPA -- The Yankees and the White Sox haven't held trade talks involving lefty starting pitcher Jose Quintana for weeks, several sources with knowledge of the discussions have told NJ Advance Media. The sources requested anonymity in order to speak freely.
There's a sense that Chicago has maintained a lofty request for the All-Star after being emboldened by the prospect hauls it got from the Red Sox for ace Chris Sale and the Nationals for center fielder Adam Eaton, one source said.
On Sunday, CBS' Bruce Levine reported that the Yankees were among four teams -- including the Astros, Cardinals and Pirates -- that were "dug into" the Quintana market.
Chicago may have leaked that information to push a potential trade partner to acquiesce to its demands, another source speculated.

Many teams would love to add Quintana, a 28-year-old who's averaged 32 starts over the last four years, posting a 3.35 ERA over the span.
Quintana is signed to what's widely considered a team-friendly deal. He's due $14.35 million over the next two seasons and has club options worth $10.5 million a season in 2019 and 2020, according to Cot's Baseball Contracts.
The Yankees have plenty of rotation questions. Aside from the health and performance concerns surrounding Masahiro Tanaka, CC Sabathia and Michael Pineda, they're attempting to fill two open rotation spots via a five-man competition between righties Luis Severino, Luis Cessa, Adam Warren, Chad Green and Bryan Mitchell.
The team also hopes it could get contributions from prospects James Kaprielian, a 2015 first-round pick, and Chance Adams, who turned heads with an excellent 2016 between High-A Tampa and Double-A Trenton.
Chicago received infielder Yoan Moncada, MLB.com's No. 2 overall prospect, righty Michael Kopech, ranked 16th, in its haul for Sale, a five-time All-Star lefty.
For Eaton, the White Sox got righty Lucas Giolio, ranked No. 11 by MLB.com, and righty Reynaldo Lopez, ranked 46th, from the Nationals.
