Finally, Marc Márquez will not race this Sunday at the Dutch GP in Assen. If he decided it himself at Sachsenring a week ago, because he did not feel "ready" to race (despite having the medical approval), on this occasion, the MotoGP medical team has not given him the "Suitable" to compete as he aggravated the injuries that dragged, mainly the rib.
Márquez chooses to recover well from the injuries that occurred in Germany, where he suffered five falls, with a sprained ankle, a cracked rib -now fractured- and a fractured left thumb, which have continued to martyr him this weekend . "I need to rebuild myself mentally," admitted the Catalan.
The pilot himself communicated it through a note published on his Twitter account: "As you know, I have not reached Assen one hundred percent physically. In addition to the sprain and fracture of the finger, this week in Madrid they saw that there was a fractured rib that has been causing me a lot of pain. This morning I woke up in a lot of pain and, after a review with the medical team, we have decided not to run today to prevent it from getting worse and thus be able to recover for the next few weeks."
Márquez later explained, on the Dazn TV microphone, that "since the Sprint I was sad and in pain." "I have suffered a lot tonight. This morning I got up and went directly to the medical center to say that I did not want to run," he said about his visit to the doctors, who also saw how "the rib fracture had moved a bit ". "This month and a half of break will go well for me physically," he added.
Márquez clings to his private life in "one of the hardest moments at a professional level": "The personal level makes up for it, it is one of my best moments. One of the moments when I am calmest and happiest. Supported by my family, my brother, my partner, my team, my manager... They are compensating the balance and I'm sure it will give me strength to keep pushing. Let's see if we come back with a different inertia in Silverstone".
Despite the numerous reports about his future, which point to a divorce with Honda, Márquez did not want to feed the rumours. "I give myself the summer to rest, reflect and clear my mind, which will go well for me. I will start the second part of the season with the same commitment", concluded the man from Cervera.
The Repsol Honda rider is experiencing one of the worst moments of his MotoGP career. He has only been able to run in four of the eight Grand Prix and has suffered up to 14 falls. He contested the opening round in Portugal, where he crashed in the race and was penalized, injured and missed the next three rounds (Argentina, Austin and Jerez). He reappeared at Le Mans and crashed again in the race, like at Mugello. And again, at the Sachsenring, where he was injured at three different points.
In Germany, he himself chose to get off the bike after the warm-up crash in the morning, and leave it for Assen. In the Cathedral he has fallen twice, on Friday and on Saturday when hitting Bastianini in a ridiculous accident looking back.
After the Sprint, in which he could only be 17th -his worst result this season (in races finished)-, Márquez admitted on Dazn TV that he was experiencing an ordeal: "It is the hardest moment of my career on a mental level ". Seven crashes in the last five days on an indomitable Honda summarize his absolute disaster, unparalleled in his 11 years in MotoGP.
Until the British GP, on August 6, he will have more than a month to recover and reflect on his future with Honda, his manufacturer, with whom he is experiencing an unprecedented crisis.
