Gudelj will have an automatic defibrillator implanted and wants to continue playing

The Serbian player from Córdoba Dragisa Gudelj, who suffered a cardiac arrest last Saturday against Rácing de Ferrol at El Arcángel, will undergo surgery to implant an automatic defibrillator (ICD) so that he can return to the pitch, the club reported on Thursday white-green.

"The medical tests have confirmed that the Serb suffered a ventricular tachycardia that caused cardiac arrest and, therefore, the sudden death he suffered. The rapid intervention of the medical services managed to save his life," Córdoba explained in a statement.

The Serbian player fainted and received cardiopulmonary resuscitation for approximately five minutes, although the origin of the problem has finally been known and the footballer's intention, once operated, is to play again.

The white-and-green entity, on its social networks, has indicated that Gudelj wants to play football again following the example of the Danish Christian Eriksen: "The intention of the Cordovan defender is to play football again, following the example of players like Christian Eriksen. Danish player suffered sudden death in a Euro 2020 match and was able to return to compete at the highest level. He plays for Manchester United."

"Once again, from the Córdoba Club de Fútbol we would like to express our gratitude for the absolute willingness and affection with which our player has been treated by the professionals at the Reina Sofía University Hospital," the statement concluded.
