Endrick becomes the fourth youngest debutant in history with Brazil

17 years, 3 months and 27 days. That's how long it took Endrick to debut with Brazil's senior team. A record that takes him to fourth position in the classification of youngest players to debut with the seleçao, even surpassing Ronaldo Nazário.

He did it this morning against Colombia, in the South American qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup. He jumped onto the field in the 80th minute, in Raphinha's place when Brazil was already 2-1 ahead on the scoreboard that would end up being final.

'El Fenómeno', now sixth in this ranking, did the same at 17 years, 6 months and 2 days before the 1994 World Cup against Argentina. There are only three footballers who played before the Palmeiras youngster in the Canarinha: Pelé, Edú and Coutinho, all more than 50 years ago.

In the latter case, it is not Philippe Coutinho, former Barça footballer, but Antonio Wilson Vieira Honorio, better known as Coutinho. The forward played most of his career in Brazil for Santos or Portuguesa, although he also signed in the 70s for Mexican side Atlas. He is the third youngest player to debut with the national team (17 years and 28 days).

The second is Edú who played in the 1966 and 1974 World Cups with the national team. Also in 1970, based in Aztec lands, where Brazil became world champion for the third time in its history led by Pelé who scored four goals in that tournament, including the final against Italy (4-1).

'O Rei' is the youngest footballer to debut with the Canarinha at 16 years, eight months and 14 days. He did it in July 1957 against Guillermo Stábile's Argentina in Maracaná for the Roca Cup. In that match, he scored once, but his team ended up losing 2-1.

Endrick also surpasses footballers like Neymar, the top star of the Verdeamarela in the last decade (18 years, six months and five days) and Marcelo, who is the fourteenth youngest to debut with the national team at 18 years, three months and 24 days.

Likewise, Vitor Roque, another of the pretenders to conquer the Brazilian throne in the coming years, is left behind compared to the pearl, already signed by Real Madrid. However, the Athletico Paranaense forward is within the top-10 in this particular classification (18 years and 25 days).

Brazil has not called up a player under the age of 18 for 30 years: “We don't have to expect everything from Endrick at 17 years old, but I see enormous potential. He could become one of those legendary Brazilian soccer players in the future. But time will confirm it,” commented Fernando Diniz, national coach, before the match against Colombia.

It should be noted that Endrick is the underage footballer who accumulates the most goals in the history of the Brasileirão. He is also the debutant and the youngest scorer for Palmeiras and the fourth youngest scorer in the Copa Libertadores at 16 years, 10 months and 16 days.
