Carlos Alcaraz and Daniel Evans will meet this Saturday in the semifinals of the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell-Conde de Godó Trophy, after the Spaniard, favorite to defend the title, beat his compatriot Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, 7-6 and 6- 4.
The Murcian has reached the semifinals of the Barcelona tournament without having left any set. Alcaraz have beaten all three of their opponents 2-0 so far and it doesn't look like they will let up now that they have the trophy two games away. For his part, the Briton, who has caught some air in Barcelona, has had more problems to reach the semifinals.
Evans, who does not perform much on clay, has managed to get rid of Khachanov and Cerundolo, who were heavily favored to advance. In fact, the Argentine came to put a set up, but the Briton managed to come back after a tight second set.
This will be the second time that Alcaraz and Evans meet on a track. In the only time they played, in Vienna in 2021 and on a hard court, the Spanish won 2-0.
