Carlos Alcaraz will face Italian Matteo Arnaldi in the round of 16 match at the US Open. The Murcian tennis player, who lost to Novak Djokovic in the Cincinnati final, is one of the clear favorites to lift the Grand Slam.
Alcaraz has defeated Daniel Evans in four sets in a match in which he lost the first round of the tournament. He previously disposed of Lloyd Harris and Koepfer, who retired trailing a set.
On the other hand, the young Italian talent comes to this tie giving the surprise against Cameron Norrie, who could not win any set. He previously beat Fils and Kubler, two minor rivals that have nothing to do with Alcaraz.
This will be the first time that the two young tennis players meet. It will be unknown how they will adapt to each other having never played with each other; however, it is evident that Alcaraz is the great favorite to go to the next round. Not only because of the difference in ranking - 1 to 61 - but also because of the tennis abilities of both.
The round of 16 match of the US Open between Carlos Alcaraz and Matteo Arnaldi will be played this Monday, September 4, not before 7:15 p.m.
