The heat wave that is roasting Spain will end on Thursday, but temperatures will remain very high

The heat wave does not let up in Spain. Up to 13 autonomous communities this Tuesday will be at extreme risk (red alert), significant risk (orange alert) and risk (yellow alert) due to maximum temperatures that, in some cases, will exceed 40 degrees, reaching maximums of up to 43 degrees. Only Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria and the Basque Country are freed.

The provinces of Teruel, Zaragoza and Albacete will be on red alert due to temperatures that will reach 43 degrees. This alert is activated in the central hours of the day and until 8:00 p.m. There is also a red notice in the Genil Basin, where they can reach 44 degrees.

Many other provinces remain on orange alert, where in some cases it will exceed 40 degrees: Mallorca, Gerona, Lérida, Madrid, Murcia, Navarra, Alicante, Valencia, Ciudad Real, Cuenca, Guadalajara, Toledo, Huesca, Almería, Córdoba, Granada, Jaen, Malaga and Seville.

The heat will also put Barcelona, ​​Tarragona, Castellón, Ibiza and Formentera, Huelva, Cádiz, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura and Tenerife on yellow alert for values ​​that will be around 37 degrees.

The situation will not improve, at least in the short term. For Wednesday, the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) anticipates a "probable cooling in most areas, mainly in the Ebro valley and in other areas of the north of the peninsula, as well as in the Balearic Islands, this being less pronounced in the southern third". Except for the southeast, where they will continue to rise and can reach 42-44 degrees, the peak of this episode.

According to Aemet, the minimum temperatures will also be very high, with tropical nights above 20 degrees and even above 25 in the southeastern half of the peninsula, especially in the southeastern third and in the Balearic Islands.

On Thursday, a refreshment is likely in the eastern half of the peninsula, as well as in the Balearic Islands, this being more pronounced in the southeast, the agency continues in a press release.

The Aemet believes that the second heat wave of this summer could end that day. However, it issues a warning: "The temperatures will continue to be above the usual values ​​in areas of the southern third of the peninsula and the Balearic Islands."
